Qatar Charity Opens Branch in Morocco The Qatari NG

Rabat - Qatar Charity has announced the opening of a branch in Morocco to support the country’s development objectives.

Founded in 1992, Qatar Charity is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization. With field offices operating in 30 countries, the NGO has invested $1.2 billion, in the past five years, in social projects benefiting 29 million people impacted by conflicts, natural disasters, and poverty.

The Qatar Charity branch in Morocco is set to support the country’s development strategies in vital sectors such as education, health, and social protection

Celebrating the new office, representatives of United Nations organizations, as well as Moroccan and Qatari representatives, attended the event.
Qatar’s Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Qatar Charity, Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, signed two partnership agreements on March 1 with Morocco’s National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) and the Moroccan League for the Protection of Children (LMPE).

INDH's National Coordinator Mohamed Dardouri described the opening as a “remarkable event” reflecting the constructive partnership between Morocco and Qatar. He also hailed the organization’s development and humanitarian projects across the globe, noting its potential in supporting human development efforts in Morocco.

Notably, the Qatar Charity and INDH partnership agreement will further the exchange of expertise between both parties and enable the Moroccan initiative to improve the efficiency of its practices and projects, Dardouri added.

On behalf of Princess Lalla Zineb, LMPE’s President Abdelilah Fountir Benbrahim noted that the league’s partnership with the Qatari NGO reflects a shared desire to ensure a safe environment and a decent life for children in vulnerable situations.

For his part, Qatar Charity’s CEO Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari indicated that the new branch is expected to provide opportunities to consolidate the principles of brotherhood and solidarity that have long marked relations between Moroccans and Qataris.

The Moroccan branch will advance the “solid reputation [of the NGO] in the field of development in its various economic dimensions, social and cultural,” said Al-Kuwari.
