Qatar World Cup 2022: Morocco To Contribute Most Volunteers

Laayoune - Morocco is among the countries with the highest percentage of volunteers for the Qatar World Cup 2022, according to Nasser Almogaiseeb, the Volunteer Strategy Manager at Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.

Speaking during an interview with the Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq on Monday, Almogaiseeb said that the committee has conducted over 60,000 interviews to select 20,000 volunteers that will be working inside and outside the stadiums to make sure that the World Cup 2022 is conducted smoothly.

Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt provided most of the volunteer applications, he revealed.

The 20,000 volunteers will be assigned different tasks across hotels, airports, hospitals, and stadiums to provide the necessary assistance during the biggest football event in the world. They will also be expected to work at least 10 days in shifts of 6 to 8 hours a day.

With more than 40% of the applicants aged between 24 and 34, Almogaiseeb said that "this is very promising and shows the importance of having young people with us as well as reflects their eagerness to leave a mark in this global event."

According to the Qatari official, 95% of applicants speak fluent English.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Volunteer Program strives to bring people together through football to provide a smooth and fantastic experience for everyone during the upcoming event, he argued. Qatar Hopes to attract 15,000 volunteers from inside the country, and another 5,000 from outside to assist in organizing the spectacular event.

Apart from volunteers, Morocco recently sent thousands of police agents to help Qatar reinforce security at the upcoming World Cup.

The Qatar World Cup 2022 was originally scheduled to run from November 21 to December 18. But FIFA, the tournament's organizing body, has just changed the opening day to November 20. 32 nations will take part in the World Cup, including Qatar and Morocco.
