Puma Unveils Away Kit For Morocco’s National Football Team

Rabat - German sportswear company Puma has unveiled the official away kit for the Moroccan national team, known as the Atlas Lions.

On Monday, Puma tweeted pictures of the away jersey with the caption, “It’s in the details. The 2022 @EnMaroc [official Twitter account of Morocco’s national football team] Away kit, out now.”

The white jersey with green and red stripes on the sleeve and neck areas would be worn by the Moroccan football team in case the jersey colors of their opposing team are similar to the previously announced home kit. The away kit aims to prevent confusion for players, officials, and spectators during the games.

In May, Puma shared the home kits for the Atlas Lionsahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Inspired by the 1998 Atlas Lions jersey, the new red and green home kit for the 2022-23 season is made of “ultraweave performance fabric and dryCell sweat-wicking technology.”

To date, Puma has revealed the home and kit jerseys of the national football teams of Ghana, Senegal, Switzerland, Serbia, and Argentina.

In 2019, Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) signed a four-year contract with Puma after the expiration of the seven-year contract with Adidas due to football fans' disappointment with the national 2018 World Cup kit.

Under the contract, which is set to expire in 2023, Puma is responsible for providing “all [Moroccan] national teams with equipment and sportswear” for domestic and international events, such as the much-anticipated Qatar World Cup scheduled from November 21 to December 18.

The Moroccan football team will face Belgium, Croatia, and Canada within Group F of the World Cup. In preparation for the cup, Morocco’s Atlas Lions will playwarm-up matches against Chile on September 23 in Barcelona and Paraguay on September 27 in Seville, Spain.

In July, FIFA reported that the Moroccan national team will stay at a Team Base Camp at Wyndham Doha West Bay, at the heart of Doha’s business and leisure district. The Atlas Lions' hotel is a 15-minute drive from their training site, Duhail SC Stadium.

As of August 29, the Atlas Lions are the best Arab national team, as they ranked 23rd in the latest FIFA global ranking. Tunisia followed in 30th position, ahead of Egypt (40th), Algeria (41st), and Qatar (48th).
